Over their spring break, the No. 16 Yale women’s lacrosse team (8–0, 2–0 Ivy) had a dominant two weeks, securing victories against the University of Connecticut (4–5, 0–1 Big East), Central Connecticut State (2–7, 2–3 NEC) and Rutgers (5–5, 0–3 B1G). The Bulldogs have not won against UConn since 2019, when they topped the Huskies 17–11.

On Sunday afternoon, the Bulldogs traveled to Hanover, New Hampshire to face off against Dartmouth (5–3, 0–2 Ivy) and earned a decisive 15–5 victory. This game marks the Bulldogs’ third consecutive win against the Big Green and the largest margin of victory in school history.

Dartmouth started strong, netting the game’s first two goals and keeping the score tight until halftime, trailing the Blue and White only by four. At halftime, Yale led 7–4. The Bulldogs rallied in the third quarter to outscore the Big Green 6–1, and maintained their momentum until the end.

Although Dartmouth trailed behind by a small margin in the first half, by the end of the third quarter the Bulldogs were dominating the game and leading by eight. The Blue and White outshot Dartmouth 33–10, conceding only a single shot to the Big Green in the second half.

In a standout performance, four Bulldogs secured a game-best four points each: Sky Carrasquillo ’25, Chloe Conaghan ’24, Taylor Everson ’25 and Ashley Kiernan ’27. Kiernan notably achieved her first career hat trick. Adding to the impressive tally, Taylor Lane ’25 and Jenna Collignon ’25 also recorded hat tricks of their own.

An honorable mention must go to Collignon, who scored her 100th career goal in the third quarter.

“My personal highlight has to be reaching 100 career goals,” Collignon wrote to the News. “I didn’t even realize I was close to that mark so finding out after the game was definitely very exciting.”

Yale’s impressive 8–0 record marks their best start since the 2001 season, solidifying their position as one of the three remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division 1 women’s lacrosse. This remarkable feat places the Bulldogs in a strong position as they prepare for the rest of their season and Ivy League play.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will take on No. 23 Brown University (8–2, 1–1 Ivy) at Reese Stadium this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The No. 21 Yale women’s lacrosse team (4-0, 1–0 Ivy) earned a dominant 11–9 victory against Princeton University (3–2, 0–1 Ivy) on Saturday afternoon away at Sherrerd Field in Princeton, New Jersey.

This game marks the Bulldogs’ third consecutive win against the Tigers and represents Yale’s first victory at Princeton since 1988 when the Bulldogs secured a 10–9 win.

“Princeton has been a tough place for us to play on the road,” Taylor Lane ’25 wrote to the News. “But we focus on the controllables, and our veteran squad this year is all business.”

The game showcased thrilling back-and-forth action, with both teams scoring four goals in the opening quarter.

Princeton gained a 6–4 lead early in the second quarter but a rapid pair of goals by Jenna Collignon ’25 leveled the score at 7–7 by half-time.

“We knew Princeton was a gritty team that’s been able to come back from large goal deficits this season,” Lane wrote to the News. “So, at halftime, we knew we had to stay focused, follow the adjustments our coaches made, and stick to our game plan.”

The halftime discussion proved to be pivotal, as the Bulldogs dominated the Tigers in the third quarter, outscoring them 3–0, which ultimately sealed the victory.

In the second quarter, Yale held Princeton scoreless for 29 minutes and 14 seconds, turning a 7–6 deficit into an 11–7 lead. Although the Tigers scored one goal with 4:49 left, the Bulldogs answered with a commanding 5–0 streak, securing their lead until the final whistle.

The game saw five goals and five draw controls from Collignon. Sky Carrasquillo ’25 and Karina Herrera ’27 both deserve honorable mentions for their two-goal contributions, along with goalkeeper Laura O’Connor ’27, who made five crucial saves.

“We knew this game was going to be tough and we had to work together and rely on each other to get it done,” Collignon wrote to the News. “This game emphasized how important the little things are like winning draws, ground balls, clears, and finishing your shots.”

Yale has moved to No. 18 in the National Poll after beating Princeton.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will take on the University of Connecticut at Reece Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a match against Central Connecticut State at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The No. 21 Yale women’s lacrosse team (3–0, 0–0 Ivy) took on Quinnipiac University (0–3, 0–0 MAAC) in a midweek game and Temple University (4–2, 0–0 ACC) on Saturday, securing two hard-fought wins.

The Bulldogs clinched a commanding 20–8 victory against Quinnipiac University (0–3, 0–0 MAAC) on Wednesday afternoon at Reece Stadium.

The Blue and White dominated from the beginning, securing an 8–2 lead in the opening quarter. This early advantage enabled Yale to rest their starters for most of the remaining game.

Yale demonstrated their depth by holding onto a five-goal lead starting from the second quarter. The game saw goals from 11 different players, with a total of 12 players contributing points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs have 10 wins and zero losses against the Bobcats since 2013.

A total of 31 players made appearances for the Bulldogs, with first-year midfielders Ashley Kiernan ’27 contributing two assists and Karina Herrera ’27 netting two goals in their Yale debuts.

“It honestly was just great to see all the hard work pay off after this fall and preseason,” Herrera wrote to the News. “I am beyond thrilled that my first debut went well and that I was able to share my first collegiate point with an assist from one of my fellow first-years!”

On Saturday, the Bulldogs traveled to Philadelphia to take on Temple, securing a 13–5 win against the Owls. Temple started the season undefeated until they were beaten by the Bulldogs.

Temple netted the game’s opening goal, but the Bulldogs fought back, scoring the next 10. Yale maintained a strong defense, keeping the Owls scoreless from the 9:18 mark of the first quarter until the 0:46 mark of the third quarter.

The game saw contributions from several players. Chloe Conaghan ’24 and Taylor Lane ’25 provided assists, while Bella Saviano ’26 and Emmy Pascal ’26 showcased their skills in forced turnovers and ground balls.

“My favorite moment of the weekend was Taylor Everson and Taylor Lane’s rebounded goals,” Conaghan wrote to the News. “One of our big focuses for the game was crashing to the net on every shot and taking advantage of offensive rebounds, so it was great to see a small thing like that translate into crucial goals that put us ahead early.”

Sky Carrasquillo ’25 and Taylor Everson ’25 each secured hat tricks, marking Carrasquillo’s second hat trick this season. Yale’s first three games have seen seven hat tricks from six players.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will travel to New Jersey on Saturday to compete against #23 Princeton at 12 p.m.

“I can’t wait to show the Ivy League who Yale Lacrosse is this season,” Conaghan wrote to the News. “It will be a gritty game, and I am looking forward to seeing us dominate on both ends of the field.”

Princeton University (1–1, 0–0 Ivy) will be their first Ivy League game of the 2024 season.

In their season opener at Reese Stadium, the Yale women’s lacrosse team (1–0, 0–0 Ivy) secured a thrilling 13–12 victory over Stanford University (1–2, 0–0 ACC) this past Saturday.

Right from the start, the matchup between the Bulldogs and the Cardinals promised to be a tight game.

The two teams traded goals throughout the first half, with the score tied on seven occasions before Stanford took an 8–7 lead into halftime.

The game saw contributions from various players, including goals from Jenna Collignon ’25, Taylor Everson ’25, Taylor Lane ’25 and Sky Carrasquillo ’25, showcasing Yale’s diverse offensive strengths. Everson, returning from a lacrosse-related kidney injury, rejoined the team for her first game since Feb. 25, 2023.

“The personal highlight of my weekend was stepping out again in my Yale jersey for the first time in almost a year,” Taylor Everson ’25 wrote to the News. “It felt so good to be back on the field with my teammates and competing in a real game again.”

Facing a three-point deficit with just over 14 minutes remaining, Yale rallied and outscored Stanford 4–0 in the final stretch.

Yale’s defense played a crucial role in the outcome of the game, causing turnovers that limited Stanford’s scoring opportunities. Katie Claire ’27, Molly McGuckin ’25 and Bella Saviano ’26 were key in stifling the Cardinal’s offense, keeping the Bulldogs in contention until the end.

Despite trailing six times, the Bulldogs displayed remarkable resilience, with Carrasquillo clinching the win with a game-winning goal just 3:53 before the final whistle.

“In the moment I didn’t realize I had the game winning goal because I was so focused on what we accomplished as a team,” Carrasquillo wrote to the News. “After realizing it though, it feels good, but it was a total team effort on both ends!”

Carrasquillo, Collignon and Chloe Conaghan ’24 each secured hat tricks in the Saturday game, while Everson, Lane, Katie Clare ’27 and Fallon Vaughn ’25 had one each.

Last time Yale and Stanford faced off was Apr. 1, 2017 at Reese Stadium, in which the Bulldogs beat the Cardinals 15–12.

The Bulldogs brought back the same excitement to Reese Stadium seven years later with their last-second win this past weekend.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple University at noon on Saturday.

Both the men’s (8–2, 5–2 Ivy) and women’s (6–3, 4–2 Ivy) squash teams competed in their last two Ivy matches of the season on Saturday and Sunday. The women’s squash team then hit the road on Wednesday to face Trinity College (11–0, 0–0 NESCAC) in Hartford.

The men’s team fell to the University of Pennsylvania (12–1, 5–0 Ivy) on Saturday, but ended the weekend with a victory against Princeton University (7–2, 4–1 Ivy) on Sunday.

On Saturday, the men’s team took on the Quakers at the Brady Squash Center in a series of close matches, ultimately falling 7–2. It was a hard-fought match, as Penn is ranked No. 1 and had been undefeated all season until their loss to Trinity College (13–0, 0–0 NESCAC) on Feb. 4.

On Sunday, the men rallied against Princeton, beating the Tigers with a dominant 7–2 win.

Sunday night’s game celebrated the three graduating seniors: Yee Xian Siow ’24, Brian Leonard ’24, and Jed Burde ’24 for their last home game at the Brady Squash Center.

“From this weekend, we had a tough loss against Penn, but I feel like we collectively rallied as a team and played with a lot of confidence and enthusiasm going into the Princeton match,” Lachlan Sutton ’27 wrote to the News. “We are always in each other’s corners, win or lose, and that helps us play to the best of our abilities and get these big wins.”

Siow, in his last point of his last match at the Brady Squash Center, hit an outright winner to beat his Princeton opponent in his final match at home as a Bulldog. It was an emotional moment for the Blue and White, as Siow has played No. 1 on the ladder for both his junior and senior years.

On Saturday, the women’s team competed against Penn (10–3, 3–2 Ivy), securing a hard-fought 6–3 win. The Bulldogs have been victorious over the Quakers for the past six years.

On Sunday, the women competed against Princeton (8–2, 4–1 Ivy) but fell to the Tigers with a final score of 2–7. The women put up a good fight, though, with Christy Lau ’25 and Mika Bardin ’26 winning their matches 3–2.

Sunday night’s game celebrated the three graduating seniors: Elisabeth Ross ’24, Gigi Yeung ’24 and Sneha Sivakumar ’24 for their final home game at the Brady Squash Center.

“I think this past weekend really emphasized for our team that we are capable of competing at a high level against top ranked teams,” Meghna Sreedhar ’25 wrote to the News. “Knowing this will help motivate us through Nationals in a couple of weeks.”

On Wednesday, the women concluded their regular season with a match against Trinity College (11–0, 0–0 NESCAC), falling 8–1. Lindsay Westerfield ’25 clinched a victory in the No. 9 spot, while Ross, Yeung and Rashi Goverdhanam ’27 all displayed strong efforts, narrowly missing out with five games apiece.

“As a team, we have been working hard on physical, mental and technical aspects of the game,” Sivakumar wrote to the News. “The focus these next few weeks leading up to Nationals will definitely be on pushing our physical fitness up another level as well as mental fitness.”

Looking ahead, the men will travel to Hartford on Friday to compete against Trinity for their last match of the 2023-24 season.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are getting ready for the College Squash Association National Championships that will be held at the end of February and the beginning of March.

against Columbia University (4–5, 0–3 Ivy) on Saturday then traveled up to Ithaca, NY to face off against Cornell University (7–4, 0–3 Ivy) on Sunday. These pivotal matches marked significant milestones in their quest for an Ivy title.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs played Columbia, clinching a narrow victory against the Lions with a score of 5–4.

Siow Yee Xian ’24 secured an impressive straight-set win as the No. 1 seeded player for the Blue and White, maintaining his undefeated streak for the season, a streak that would be broken the next day after he fell to the Big Red.

“The highlight for me is definitely coming back from 2–4 and beating Columbia 5–4,” Siow Yee Xian wrote to the News. “This really showed that all of the work we’ve done on and off court is paying off, especially on the mental side where the whole team stayed really positive and composed no matter whether we were winning or losing.”

The Bulldogs have 12 wins and five losses against the Lions since 2011. In 2023, they beat

Columbia in a commanding 9–0 showing.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs competed against Cornell with a decisive victory over the Big Red.

“My favorite moment was watching Lachlan [Sutton ’27] clinch the win against Cornell,” Tad Carney ’26 wrote to the News. “It was a big moment for him and the team, making it a lot less stressful than it was against Columbia the day before.”

The Bulldogs beat the Big Red 7–2. Tad Carney, Nikhil Ismail ’25 and Brian Leonard ’24 all beat their opponents in dominant 3–0 games.

Since 2011, the Bulldogs have 15 wins and one loss against Cornell. The Bulldogs beat the Big Red last season with a score of 9–0.

Looking ahead, the Bulldogs take on the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University this weekend at home. These games mark the last two conference matches before the men’s team gears up for the College Squash Association National Championships.

“Throughout this week, [men’s and women’s head coach] Lynn [Leong] and the rest of the coaching staff have maintained the team’s focus on the week’s goal: defeating Penn and Princeton,” men’s captain Brian Leonard wrote to the News. “Playing Ivy matches are always tough, but the team is ready for a big weekend ahead.”

Games this weekend against UPenn and Princeton start at 12 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at the Brady Squash Center inside Payne Whitney Gymnasium.
